SAT test prep

ibidPREP offers one-on-one and custom group prep for all administrations of the SAT. Our work is complemented with our textbook—Remain Clam! Test Taking & the Teenage Mind: SAT Edition and state-of-the art, adaptive digital exam and practice sets.

Students preparing for the SATs are guided as to the material and strategy of the exam according to our fundamental approaches to reading, writing, grammar and math. Additionally, we focus on any upper level math topics students may not have been exposed to and the finer points of close reading.

SAT vs. ACT: Which test to take?

Choosing between the SAT and ACT is an important decision. While both tests are equally accepted by colleges, each has distinct characteristics that may better suit different students:

SAT Traits:

  • Shorter test (2 hours, 14 minutes vs. 3 hours)
  • Fewer questions overall
  • More time per question
  • Calculator allowed for all math
  • Adaptive testing may benefit strong performers

ACT Traits:

  • Fixed difficulty level (not adaptive)
  • More predictable format
  • Straightforward questions with less context
  • Science section may benefit STEM-oriented students
  • Writing conventions more explicitly tested

At ibidPREP, we help students determine their best-fit test through:

  • Diagnostic testing on both SAT and ACT
  • Analysis of scoring patterns
  • Assessment of student's academic strengths
  • Consideration of testing style preferences
  • Review of target schools' typical score ranges
