The Hunter College High School (HCHS) entrance exam determines admission to NYC's renowned Hunter College High School. The exam's format combines:

Unlike the SHSAT, which is open to all, the HCHS is by invitation only. Students must qualify through their 5th Grade ELA & Math State Test scores. Private school students must place in via a separate pre-test. The Hunter exam is administered in January and only 6-8% of the students who take it gain entry to HCHS.

What prep does ibid offer the Hunter Test?
ibid's yearly Hunter Course is renowned across the city for its historical success. We start in October and work our way through to the actual exam in January.
We also offer, as always, in-person and remote one-on-one tutoring at any time.

What does it take for success on the Hunter test?
The Hunter test is graded in two parts.
The Verbal and Math multiple choice questions are graded by percents. Students scoring around 75%+ (it varies year to year) have their essays read. Essays may be evaluated on any number of criteria, but we stress writing that:
