NYC Specialized High School Test Going Digital: Changes Coming to 2025 SHSAT

The NYC Panel for Educational Policy voted to approve Pearson's 5 year, $17 million contract to continue writing the Specialized High School Test (SHSAT) but now move it to digital format.

For the time being, it is not clear what the transformation to a digital version of the test will mean. Might it be a hybrid move as the State Test transition has been? Might the new test be adaptive as has been suggested?

We have no idea, but we'll let you know the moment we do!

What we do know is that, as we've overseen decades worth of "new" versions of tests, most changes have been cosmetic. The content remains the same, but the furniture gets rearranged. For 2025, ibidPREP will continue to teach the content of the exam and how best to approach any exam. We will stick to the format of the current SHSAT and adapt the moment we know of any shifts.

We'll keep our community updated as specific changes are announced.
